Dickinson Supervisors Approve New Recycling Contract

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson county and H & H Recycling of Spirit Lake have reached terms on a new recycling contract for unincorporated areas of the county.

The board of supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to sign the new contract, effective September 1st, 2008 through June 30th, 2009. After that, the contract will automatically renew from year to year, unless either party opts out by giving atleast a 60-day notice.

The contract will cost the county 3,500-dollars a month.

Terms call for the curbside recycling pickup to continue in subdivisions and around the lakes. The drop-off trailer that traveled to various communities on a regular schedule will be discontinued. Instead, the county has reached an agreement with the cities that will allow rural residents to drop off recyclables at the city drop-offs. Terms of the deal call for the county to pay the cities 100-dollars a month in exchange for that service. The city of Milford has agreed to a three-month deal with the county, indicating they may consider charging the county more after that if the city’s expenses increase because of the arrangement.
