(Graettinger)– Authorities in Palo Alto county spent part of this (Fri.) morning rounding up hogs.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says Daniel Brubaker of Sigourney, Iowa was driving a semi tractor/trailer loaded with hogs northbound on Highway Four south of Graettinger when he swerved to miss a deer, causing him to lose control.
The semi collided with a bridge guardrail, causing severe damage. It then went into the ditch, ending up on its side.
The trailer was loaded with 206 head of hogs. Authorities say some of those were killed.
The semi tractor and trailer were both totaled.
No injuries were reported to Brubaker.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Graettinger Fire Department, Palo Alto County Emergency Management and the Iowa State Patrol.
