IWD Taking Apps For Clay Co Fair Jobs

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Iowa Workforce Development has started accepting applications from those looking for work at this year’s Clay County Fair.

Those who are interested should sign up at the Iowa Workforce Development office at 217 West Fifth Street in Spencer, either in person or by calling them at (712) 262-1971 extension 123 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A temporary workforce center will open at the fairgrounds September 3rd. It will be located at the north end of the information booth, just south of the grandstand.

Bob Becker of Iowa Workforce Development says openings exist for a variety of jobs, including food service, concessions, booth sales, restroom cleaning, display set up and tear down, and so on.

Becker says salaries may not be covered under minimum wage laws and will vary with different vendors.

Becker encourages exhibitors and vendors at the fair who need workers to contact his office. He says both the temporary and regular offices are open to both applicants and employers at no charge.
