Osceola Co Crash Sends Several People To The Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Sibley)– A two-vehicle crash last Thursday at an intersection in Osceola county sent several people to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office says 38-year-old Shannon Nagel of George was westbound on 180th Street and 39-year-old Todd Rockman of Sibley was southbound on Nettle Avenue when the two collided in the intersection. The vehicle driven by Rockman then went into the south ditch where it damaged a fence before striking an embankment and coming to rest.

Rockman and a passenger in his vehicle, Ruby Rockman of Sibley, were taken to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Nagel and a passenger in that vehicle, Day DeWeerdt of Sibley, were also taken to the Osceola Community Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

A 2001 Ford Excursion driven by Rockman sustained an estimated 20-thousand dollars damage; damage to a 1991 Chevrolet pickup driven by Nagel was estimated at 1,500-dollars. Damage to the fence was estimated at 200-dollars.

Nagel was cited for failure to yield, driving while suspended, failure to prove security against liability and improper registration.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Sibley Fire and Rescue and Sibley ambulance.

The mishap took place shortly before 6:00 p.m.
