(Spirit Lake)– Residents in the Center Lake area say the city of Spirit Lake is delivering them something different than what was promised when it comes to the type of street lights being installed in the subdivision.
Ron Batz, President of the Center Lake Association, told the Spirit Lake city council Tuesday they don’t like the silver poles the lights are to be installed on. He says he can’t figure out why green poles, similar to those in other parts of town, aren’t being put up in the Center Lake area.
Another Center Lake resident described the poles as looking like “flag poles”.
Councilman Clyde Ihrke defended the city’s selection over the type of lights being put up in the Center Lake area, saying economics and efficiency played a role in the decision. He added the reason why the green colored poles continue to go up in some other areas of the city is due to consistency issues and to meet contractual agreements the city has with developers.
