Second Defendant In Milford Murder Case Pleads Guilty To Lesser Charge

(Spirit Lake)– A second defendant in a Milford murder case has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in Dickinson County District Court.

29-year-old Scott Adair of Crossett, Arkansas entered a written plea of guilty earlier this week to a charge of voluntary manslaughter…a class “C” felony…in the death of 25-year-old Matthew Begtrup of Sioux Falls. Sentencing is set for October 20th.

As we reported earlier this week, 30-year-old John Swan…also of Crossett, Arkansas, has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of willful injury, also in a plea bargain. His sentencing is also set for October 20th.

A third defendant in the case, 29-year-old Michael Friedrichs of Forest City, has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder. He’s scheduled to go on trial this coming Tuesday in Dickinson County District Court.
