(Spirit Lake)– A report of a suicidal man armed with a gun resulted in an area near Prairie Lake southeast of Spirit Lake being cordoned off last (Sun.) evening.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says authorities were called to the scene on 180th Street shortly after 5:30 p.m.
With assistance from other law enforcement agencies and the Multi-Agency Response Team, a perimeter of the area was established.
Following a search of the area, authorities found the man around 7:45 p.m.
A semi-automatic handgun was also recovered.
The man, who’s name hasn’t been released, was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare for evaluation.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Spirit Lake, Okoboji, Arnolds Park, Milford and Lake Park Police Departments; Multi-Agency Response Team; Iowa State Patrol; DNR; Milford Rescue and the Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance.
