(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park city council Wednesday evening adopted an amendment to the city’s no parking ordinance, establishing five new no parking zones in the city. They include the side of Dam Road along the bike trail and sidewalk; Forest Park Road…changing the no parking zone from the south side of the street to the north side; 202nd Street on the south side of Emerald Hills Golf Course on the bike trail side of the road; and extending no parking zones 50 feet back from the corners of Ackley and Iowa Streets and East Broadway and Iowa Streets.
The council also heard a proposal from Police Chief Al Krueger regarding an ordinance that would require taxi companies doing business in the city to be licensed and insured, among other things. Krueger told the council it’s intended to make sure all taxi companies are operating on the same playing field. He says there are currently some private individuals offering taxi services in the city that aren’t insured or licensed by the state.
A discussion of water rates was also on the agenda for the meeting, but no action was taken as the city’s financial consultant couldn’t be present at Wednesday evening’s meeting. They’ll take up the matter at a special session November 5th. Arnolds Park residents could be looking at increased rates along with the possibility of administrative and/or meter fees being added to water bills to help pay for extensive rennovations at Central Water’s water treatment plant.
