November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– An Emmetsburg man faces charges in connection with an incident Saturday in which a vehicle he was driving collided with a house and two parked vehicles.

Emmetsburg police say a vehicle that was southbound in the 700 block of Lake Street in Emmetsburg left the road and struck a residence at 2207 Eighth Street. The vehicle then struck a parked, unattended vehicle, pushing it into a second parked, unattended vehicle.

Police say the first vehicle then re-entered the roadway on Lake Street and left the scene.

The alleged driver of the vehicle was later identified by police as Jeffrey Alderson of Emmetsburg. Authorities say he sustained minor injuries but declined treatment.

Alderson was arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated…first offense; and leaving the scene of an accident. He was booked into the Palo Alto county jail pending an initial appearance before a judge.

The vehicle Alderson was driving sustained an estimated 10-thousand dollars; Damage to the first vehicle that was struck was estimated at 7,500-dollars while the second vehicle sustained about 750-dollars in damage.

An estimate of damage to the house wasn’t immediately available.
