Judge Orders Local Construction Company To Pay 10K For Various Violations

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Iowa Attorney General’s Office says a Dickinson county construction company has been ordered to pay 10-thousand dollars for solid waste and open burning violations.

The state filed a lawsuit last year against Bernard Cohrs and Cohrs Construction, Incorporated. It came after the Iowa Department of Natural Resources responded to a complaint that solid waste was being burned in a gravel pit.

The company was accused of dumping and burning household and commercial waste, including an air conditioner, a recliner, a bike and other items.

A Dickinson County District Court Judge today (Monday) entered the order requiring the company to pay five thousand dollars on each of the civil penalties.
