(Emmetsburg)– An investigation in a suspicious vehicle spotted by a Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Deputy on routine patrol early this (Tues.) morning has landed a Spencer woman in jail on an outstanding warrant and result in authorities seizing some drug paraphernalia and pills.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says the deputy spotted the vehicle around 12:13 in the Silver Lake area of western Palo Alto county.
Authorities say a license check found the owner of the vehicle, 55-year-old Shirley Wirkus of Spencer, was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Pocahontas county. Upon making contact with her, Wirkus was arrested. An inventory of a tent she had been in was conducted during which deputies found pipes and other paraphernalia.
A large amount of pills were also seized, which have been sent to the DCI crime lab for testing.
Wirkus was booked into jail on the warrant and was also charged with possesion of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities say additional charges and arrests may be forthcoming as the case remains under investigation.
