SL Council Considers Tighter Restrictions On Erosion Control At Construction Sites

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake city council Tuesday approved the first reading of a proposed ordinance that would tighten regulations over erosion control and run-off from construction sites.

Among other things, it requires anyone doing construction in the city to obtain an additional permit for erosion control.

It also requires anyone planning to do construction in the city to have a written plan on how they plan to contain run-off on the site.

Violators could be subject to a municipal infractions. The penalty is a 750-dollar fine for the first violation and subsequent fines after that.
