(Emmetsburg)– A two-vehicle collision Wednesday in Palo Alto county injured three people.
The Iowa State Patrol says 18-year-old Breanna Lee of Algona was westbound on 370th Street at the Des Moines River and was crossing a bridge when she attempted to make a U-turn. Authorities say a vehicle that was behind Lee, driven by 34-year-old Martin Geelan of Ruthven, couldn’t stop in time and collided with Lee’s vehicle.
Officials say the impact of the crash forced Lee’s vehicle into the south ditch; the vehicle Geelan was driving came to rest on the traveled portion of the road.
Lee and a passenger in her vehicle, 23-year-old Travis Johnson, were taken by ambulance to Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg with non-incapacitating injuries.
Geelan also sustained minor injuries, but sought his own treatment from a physician.
A 1997 Mercury Lee was driving was totaled; a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlas driven by Geelan sustained an estimated two-thousand dollars damage.
Lee was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn.
The collision took place shortly after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
