Pickup, Cement Truck Collide

November 22, 2014

(Sheldon)– A collision involving a pickup and a cement truck earlier this week in O’Brien county sent two people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says the cement truck, driven by 23-year-old Jason Cother of Sanborn, and a 1997 Chevrolet pickup driven by 76-year-old Robert Nasers of Sibley collided at the intersection of Northwest Boulevard, or old Highway 60, and 280th Street near Sheldon.

Troopers say the cement truck was traveling northwest on old Highway 60 while the pickup was eastbound on 280th Street. They say Nasers failed to yield, colliding with the cement truck.

Cother was taken by personal vehicle to the Sheldon hospital with possible injuries; Nasers, who had to be extricated from his vehicle, was transported by ambulance to the Sheldon hospital with incapacitating injuries.

Five thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the cement truck; three thousand to the pickup.

The collision took place around 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
