(Washington, D.C.)– Some local fire departments will share in slightly more than 1.6 million dollars being made available through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
Locally, the Cherokee Fire Department was awarded $219,643; Armstrong will receive $121,315; and the Ringsted Fire Department was awarded 225,150-dollars.
The grants can be used to purchase equipment, improve facilities, to implement health and wellness programs and for training.
