Accident East Of Milford Injures Three

November 22, 2014

(Milford)–A two-vehicle collision shortly after 5:00 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of 230th Avenue and 220th Street, or county road A-34 east of Milford injured three people.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 17-year-old Scott Williamsen of Milford was southbound on 230th Avenue and was unable to stop due to ice. Williamsen slid through the intersection and collided with the driver’s side of a truck driven by 52-year-old Mario Leos of May City. The impact caused the load on the truck to shift, resulting in it tipping on the passenger’s side…coming to rest on the roadway.

Williamsen and a passenger in his vehicle, 17-year-old Morgan Syverson of Milford, were treated on the scene for minor injuries and released.

51-year-old Jorge Montego of Worthington, a passenger in the truck driven by Leos, was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with non-incapacitating injuries. No injuries were reported to Leos.

10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 1991 International Straight Truck driven by Leos; five thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Williamsen.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Milford and Arnolds Park Police Departments; Iowa State Patrol; Milford Fire and Rescue; Bob’s Auto Body of Milford and Jennings Tow & Repair of Spirit Lake.
