Local Companies Awarded Iowa Ventures Award

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– An Estherville company is one of eight Iowa companies to receive this year’s Iowa Venture Award.

The Iowa Area Development Group, acting on behalf of Iowa’s rural electric cooperatives and member municipal electric systems, honored Dakota Pack, Incorporated of Estherville, along with seven other Iowa companies.

Dakota Pack is a full service provider of pork products, specializing in wholesale, retail and specialty cuts of pork. The company has partnered with a group of pork producers in central Iowa to form Blue Water Free Range Pork for specialty markets.

Dakota Pork was nominated for the Iowa Venture Award by Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative.
The award recognizes Iowa’s leading companies that have helped sustain and grow the state’s economy.

The award has been presented annually since 1988.

Two other northwest Iowa companies were presented the award this year in addition to Dakota Pork. They include Roorda Dairy, LLC of Paullina and Van Ess Dairy, LLC of Sanborn.

Michael Tramontina, Director of the Iowa Department of Economic Development, assisted the Iowa Area Development Group in presenting the Iowa Venture Awards recently at the Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives’ annual meeting in West Des Moines.
