Jury Finds SL Man Guilty Of Involuntary Manslaughter

(Spirit Lake)– A Dickinson county jury has convicted a Spirit Lake man of involuntary manslaughter in the July 29th, 2007 death of Marlan Lutterman of Worthington.

Kenneth Nielsen could be sentenced to up to two years in prison on the aggravated misdemeanor, along with possible fines and or restitution.

The case went to the jury around 3:00 p.m…following closing arguments. The jury returned its verdict around 5:20 p.m.

A pre-sentence investigation will be conducted at the request of Nielsen and his attorney, Ned Bjornstad. Sentencing is tentatively set for December 29th.

Testimony in the trial started Tuesday afternoon and concluded around 10:30 a.m. this (Thurs.) following testimony from the lone witness called by the defense (see previous story).
