(Des Moines)– Two local lawmakers have been re-appointed to key leadership positions in some influential committees.
House Republican Leader Kraig Paulsen of Hiawatha has re-appointed State Representative Mike May of Spirit Lake as ranking member of the House Education Committee.
May, who is serving his third term, will also serve on the House Economic Growth, Transportation and Natural Resources Committees, as well as the Education Appropriations Subcommittee.
State Senator David Johnson of Ocheyedan has been named ranking member of the Agriculture Committee as well as the Health and Human Services Budget Subcommittee.
Johnson has also been re-appointed to the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and the Environment.
He will also serve on the Appropriations, Education and Human Resources Committees.
The 83rd General Assembly convenes January 12th at the Statehouse in Des Moines.
