ILCC Trustees Act on Two Building Projects

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College Tuesday took action on two building projects. They approved specifications for an addition to the Wind Energy and Turbine Technology building, setting January 16th as the deadline to receive bids. They also authorized staff to proceed with design work for a Construction Technology building at the Emmetsburg campus.

A proposal to share space in the college’s new wrestling facility and locker rooms with the Estherville Lincoln Central school system was also approved.

Trustees also approved grant applications through the Palo Alto Gaming Development Corporation. One is to replace carpet with hardwood flooring in the Aerobic Room of the Smith Wellness Center; another is for an automatic door at the city/ college library; a third is to update equipment in the cardiovascular center; and the final application is for a marketing and recruitment campaign on behalf of the RSVP program which wants to recruit more volunteers in Palo Alto county. The college would match all grants at 25 percent of the cost.

Trustees also Tuesday briefly discussed the situation with the Spencer Senior Center/Spencer Area Activity Center and agreed to work on an arrangement that would allow the Activity Center to keep their doors open beyond December 31st and until such a time as a formal agreement can be negotiated.
