November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Organizers say they’re forming a community-owned wind farm development company in northwest Iowa.

Red Rock Wind Energy LLC of Estherville plans to produce up to 300 megawatts of wind energy-enough to pwer 90,000 homes-in Emmet and Dickinson counties in five years.

Officials with the project, managed by National Wind of Minneapolis, is made up of many investors who are also developing the nearby Northstar Wind Farm, a 200 megawatt project, in northeastern Dickinson and northwestern Emmet county. That project is slated for completion in late 2009.

Officials say the site control specialists have already leased over a third of the acres needed for the Red Rock project’s construction.
