Dickinson Co. Supervisors Vote To Purchase Additional Security Cameras

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Smile…you’re on candid camera.

That was a slogan of a popular show from years gone by. And it’s something you may want to remember the next time you walk into the Dickinson county courthouse.

They may not be immediately noticeable when you first walk in, but chances are you’re showing up on a security camera and monitor somewhere in the building.

And more of the devices are on the way.

With one abstention, the board of supervisors Tuesday voted to purchase 11 more cameras at a cost of up to 39-thousand dollars. Those will be in addition to the nearly 50 cameras already in place. Those are hooked up to three DVR recorders that and are monitored in the Communications Center and Sheriff’s Office.

Paul Johnson cast the abstaining vote to purchase the additional cameras, saying he feels the money for them should come from the Buildings and Grounds Budget…not out of courthouse bond money.

The cameras are intended to increase security throughout the building.
