Storm Dumps 11″ Of Snow On Iowa Great Lakes

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– It’s a very slow, if not impossible, go out there this (Fri.) morning as another in a series of storms pummeled the area with 11 inches of snow.

Travel is not advised early this morning. Conditions are expected to improve rapidly after sun up and road crews can get a better handle on the situation.

While light snow continued to fall at 6:00 a.m., the National Weather Service says most of the accumulating snowfall is over. What’s left should taper off to flurries and end all together by 9:00 a.m.

The upcoming weekend could be just downright dangerous when it comes to weather. The National Weather Service says a blizzard could begin late Saturday and continue through Sunday. Two to four inches of snow could fall Saturday. Northwest winds are expected to increase to 20 to 25 mph by late in the date Saturday, with blizzard conditions and life-threatening wind chills continuing into Sunday.

Yet another storm is possible Tuesday with a potential for significant snowfall.
