(Spirit Lake)- One of three defendants in a Milford murder case is scheduled to be sentenced today in Dickinson County District Court in Spirit Lake in connection with the death of 25-year-old Matthew Begtrup of Sioux Falls. 30-year-old John Swan of Crosset, Arkansas, pleaded guilty earlier this year to the charge of willful injury. A motion has been filed for a continuance, which has yet to be ruled on. Sentencing is scheduled for 9:30AM today.
Earlier this year, 29-year-old Scott Adair, also of Crosset, Arkansas pleaded guilty to the charge of voluntary manslaughter, a class C felony. He was sentenced to no more than 10 years behind bars.
A third defendant, 29-year-old Michael Friedrichs of Forest City, has pleaded not guilty to charges of first degree murder. A trial date has not been set for that case.
