(Lake Park)– We may never know for sure what caused a fire Sunday that destroyed three buildings on Market Street in downtown Lake Park.
Lake Park Fire Chief Brandon Ehret tells KUOO news David Schipper, Deputy State Fire Marshal, was on the scene Monday and listed the cause as undetermined.
Ehret says they do have an idea where the fire originated, but didn’t elaborate, adding the investigation is now being turned over to insurance companies.
The blaze destroyed the town’s only medical clinic–Hemphill Family Care Clinic–and two vacant buildings.
The post office was damaged in the blaze, sustaining smoke and water damage and holes to the roof. Postal operations have been temporarily relocated to the American Legion building in Lake Park.
