Clay County Arrests

(Spencer)- A traffic stop by a Clay County Deputy landed a Chicago, IL woman behind bars. 21-year-old Alexis Ramos was stopped by a deputy in the 4800 block of Highway 71 on Monday afternoon for a minor traffic violation. After getting permission to search the vehicle, the deputy found what is believed to be marijuana in the car.

After a more detailed search, Ramos, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was found to be in possession of several baggies of marijuana. She was then taken to the Clay County Jail and booked for possession with intent to distribute marijuana. The driver of the vehicle was released with a traffic citation. Ramos was being held in jail on $500 cash bond and is to appear before the magistrate. The case remains under investigation.

A Clay County Deputy arrested an Emmetsburg man on Tuesday at the Clay County Jail on 5th degree theft charges. 28-year-old James Smith was turned over to the Clay County Jail where he was held to appear before the magistrate.
