(Des Moines)– Two Spirit Lake High School students are finalists in a competition being put on the by the Iowa State Bar Association.
Kayla Erlandson and Mary Kate Bartow are among 100 finalists in the association’s “Know Your Constitution” project.
Erlandson and Bartow will be honored at a luncheon in Des Moines January 9th.
As finalists, they will be eligible for a random drawing for an all expense paid trip to a six-day education conference in Washington, D.C. in February. The sessions are designed to develop a deeper understanding of government and the political process.
The “Know Your Constitution” project is designed to enrich students’ understanding and appreciation of the constitution. Students are required to familiarize themselves with constitutional related issues. A quiz was completed by each participating student. An essay question accompanied the quiz in the event of a tie.
