(Sioux Falls, S.D.)– Local Mediacom subscribers will still be able to view a Sioux Falls television station now that the two sides have agreed to a new contract.
Officials with Mediacom say they reached an agreement Wednesday afternoon with Young Broadcasting, the company that owns KELO television out of Sioux Falls.
Mediacom was prepared to pull KELO’s signal off its system at midnight Wednesday had a new agreement not been reached.
Under Federal Communication Commission rules, broadcasters’ contracts with cable companies and satellite providers expire every three years.
This time, more stations that had offered their signals for free asked for payments from cable and satellite companies.
