(Des Moines)– It’s still a year away, but already preparations are being made for the 2010 census.
And there’s some good news to report at a time when jobs are hard to come by. The U-S Census Bureau’s regional office in Des Moines has jobs available in our area. Kelly Campbell of the U-S Census Bureau says they’re looking for a number of people to assist in various capacities in Dickinson and neighboring counties, helping out with things such as confirming addresses, crew leaders and crew leader assistants. He says most of those jobs will start in the spring.
Campbell says applicants are required to take a test. You can sign by calling 1-866-861-2010 or online at www.2010censusjobs.gov. Campbell says there will be testing sites throughout the region, in Dickinson, Clay, Emmet and Osceola counties.
Campbell says they’re looking to recruit 64 people in Dickinson county alone.
He says most of the jobs are temporary, lasting five to 11 weeks, with pay starting at 12-dollars an hour.
