(Estherville)– Officials with Iowa Lakes Community College say they’re beefing up programs to help those already laid off as well as those who are either about to be laid off or think they’ll soon be laid off.
Mary Mohni is the Chief Academic Officer at ILCC. She tells KUOO news the college’s Career Resource Center is a good place to start. She says the center can assist in updating resumes along with providing short courses to sharpen skills in certain areas.
Mohni says ILCC also has counselors available, along with credit and continuing education classes. Mohni says although they have started their spring term credit classes, they do have several on-line classes along with some face-to-face that have half-terms that don’t start until mid-March.
Mohni says Iowa Lakes Community College is seeing an increase in demand for services from dislocated workers as the effects of the economic downturn are being felt more and more locally. She encourages those people to contact their local ILCC campus.
