Laborshed Survey To Get Underway

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A survey of the region’s labor availability is about to get underway.

Kathy Evert, President and CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, says Iowa Workforce Development will be conducting the telephone survey of randomly selected adults from Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties.

Survey questions will pertain to employment status, occupation, skills, education and training and willingness to change employment or accept employment.

Evert says staff is currently gathering zip code information from area companies to see where their workers are coming from.

She says data collected in the survey will be used in a comprehensive report which will include a statistical profile of the available labor force including primary and secondary skills, prevailing wage scales and commuting patterns.

The survey is conducted every three years.
