Kiwanis Car Drop

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Not only will the annual Kiwanis Car Drop on West Lake Okoboji result in some big bucks to the person that correctly guesses the minute of the day the car falls through the ice, but it will benefit several others as well.

Josh Kirschbaum of Bob’s Tow and Repair is among those that will retrieve the car from about 10-feet of water in Smith’s Bay. He tells KUOO news it will give them a chance to test out some brand new equipment specially designed for such recovery operations.

And Mark Peterson of the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Underwater Search and Rescue Team says it gives them an opportunity for valuable training.

The car is environmentally friendly. The engine and all fluids have been removed from the vehicle.

The car, donated by Hawn’s, was colorfully painted by members of the Okoboji Art Society.

Chances for the drop are still available for 10-dollars each, with the winner getting one thousand dollars.

Chances are available on-line at www.okoboji.com or by e-mail to cardropokoboji@yahoo.com.
