Man Threatens Suicide As Police Attempt To Arrest Him On Sex Abuse Charge

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A Spencer man has been arrested for alleged sexual abuse.

Spencer police say officers arrested 25-year-old Reuel Fletcher of Spencer around 11:00 p.m. Monday in a motel room on 11th Street Southeast in Spencer.

Fletcher was wanted on a warrant for sexual abuse in the third degree.

The arrest didn’t go without incident, though. Police say he pulled a knife and held it to his throat as officers approached. The officers then deployed a taser, causing Fletcher to fall to the ground and drop the knife. He was then taken into custody.

Fletcher was booked into the Clay county jail on charges of sexual abuse in the third degree and interference with official acts.

Two females who were also in the room at the time weren’t injured.
