(Mallard)– The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says two suspects have been taken into custody and charged in connection with burglaries to Sparky’s One Stop convenience store in Mallard.
The burglaries took place February 9th and again early yesterday (Thursday).
Through the course of their investigation, deputies developed information on suspects and a vehicle used in the burglaries. They were located by authorities in Albert City.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office then obtained a search warrant for 306 Main Street in Albert City. The warrant was executed around 1:30 p.m. yesterday (Thursday) by the Palo Alto, Buena Vista and Sac County Sheriff’s Offices.
They say the search resulted in the arrests of 21-year-old Nicholas Sommerlot and 18-year-old William Krause…both of Albert City. They were charged with two counts of burglary in third degree…a class “D” felony…and were booked into the Palo Alto county jail. Bond for each was set at 10-thousand dollars, cash or surety.
The two were also charged by Buena Vista county authorities for a burglary in Albert City. They’ll be transferred to that county at a later date.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office also seized Sommerlot’s 2003 Plymouth Neon that authorities say was used in the commission of the burglaries. They say the vehicle is being processed through forfeiture proceedings.
