SL Looks To Resurrect Municipal Telecommunication Committee

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A lakes area community is looking into reviving a committee that was formed several years to ago to study the feasibility of establishing a municipal telecommunications utility.

Pat Butler represented Spirit Lake on that committee which was mothballed after an engineer’s study found that installing infrastructure for such a system wouldn’t be feasible in some parts of the lakes area, due mainly to logistics.

Butler was at Tuesday’s Spirit Lake city council meeting. He told council members in light of federal funding being made available for various infrastructure projects, this may be a good time to revive that committee…atleast for the city of Spirit Lake.

Council members agreed. Butler will contact state and federal officials to see what may be available for assistance.
