Attempted Murder in Armstrong

(Armstrong, IA)–Early Sunday morning the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office responded to a dispute call at 710 – 3rd Avenue in Armstrong. Meanwhile the Armstrong Ambulance Service was paged to a residence at 100 – 5th Street. After investigating, the Sheriff’s office determined that during an altercation at the 3rd Avenue address Tanner Oleson, age 23, of Armstrong had been slashed in the neck and hand with a knife by Grant Lee Burkhart, age 29, of Armstrong. Burkhart was taken into custody without incident. Oleson was transported to the Fairmont, Minnesota Hospital where he was treated and released. Burkhart was booked into the Emmet County Jail where he has been charged with attempted murder a class B felony and willful injury a class D felony. He is currently awaiting his initial appearance in fromt of the Emmet County Magistrate.
