AP Council Awards Bid On Street Lighting Project

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– A portion of Lake Street in the Arnolds Park Amusement Park is about to get a bit brighter.

The city council Wednesday awarded a bid to install six street lights in that area.

The project was awarded to KWS, the low bidder at 48,833-dollars. The engineer’s estimate was 55,215-dollars.

The contract calls for work to start after Labor Day with completion by this coming November 1st.

On another note, John Adams, Senior, the council’s representative on the board of directors of Historic Arnolds Park Incorporated, said plans are underway to make Lake Street between West Broadway Avenue and the cul de sac near the State Pier a “pedestrian friendly” area. He says they’re proposing a gate be installed at the intersection. Adams says that portion of Lake Street would off limits to vehicular traffic during the day (with an exception for emergency vehicles). He says they also plan to install planters and other pedestrian-friendly amenities in that area.
