(Spencer)– Officials with Spencer Municipal Utilities say they’ll begin their annual water distribution maintenance program in upcoming weeks.
The process consists of flushing fire hydrants, fire hydrant maintenance and turning valves.
Operations will begin first in northwest Spencer and will move from there to the south and east, finishing in the southeastern part of the city in about six weeks.
Residents should listen each day for the area to be flushed.
Parents are asked to keep children out of the water flow close to hydrants as the pressure may cause injury.
Residents in areas that have sewer backup problems from rain in the sewer systems should be sure their plugs are installed as water from the flushing will enter the sewer system.
Residents could also experience temporary low water pressure and some discoloration while flushing operations are going on in their neighborhood.
