(Estherville)– An ongoing investigation into a recent series of burglaries in several northwest Iowa counties has resulted in the arrests of two men.
Authorities in Emmet and Palo Alto counties say it stems from a joint investigation around 1:00 a.m. June 16th into a burglary at the Stateline Coop in Ringsted. Deputies caught two suspects at that location. They’re identified as 23-year-old Roger Manwarren and 20-year-old William Mattingly, both of Emmetsburg.
Authorities say Palo Alto County Chief Deputy Todd Suhr sustained a fractured arm while capturing the suspects.
Manwarren and Mattingly were both charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief in the second degree and interference with official acts resulting in injury to a peace officer. All are class “D” felonies.
Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens tells KUOO news the arrests and evidence that was gathered has also linked the two suspects to burglaries on or about April 30th of this year at the Ringsted Fire Department and Ringsted Telephone Company. That’s resulted in an additional charge of criminal mischief in the second degree, a class “D” felony, being filed against Manwarren and Mattingly.
Bond for Mattingly was set at $61,750; Manwarren is being held on bond of $58,500. Both bonds are cash only.
Martens says the investigation continues and more arrests and charges are likely.
