(Spencer)– A traffic stop Monday in Clay county resulted in the arrest of a Storm Lake teen on drug charges.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Kirstyn Jones of Storm Lake for a traffic violation.
Upon completing a field sobriety test, it was determined Jones was over the .02 percent blood alcohol content law for people under 21. She was then taken to the Clay county jail for further testing. Upon investigating, deputies observed a lump in the front of Jones’ shorts. She at first denied having anything, but then handed deputies two glass marijuana pipes.
Jones was then arrested and taken to jail, where authorities found a baggie containing what’s alleged to be marijuana inside an undergarment.
In addition to having her driver’s license revoked for 60 days for the oh-two violation, Jones was also charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana…a serious misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana in a correctional facility…a class “D” felony.
