(Milford)– A fire this (Saturday) morning at a trailer house in Milford claimed the life of a child.
Milford Fire Chief Jim Carpenter says firefighters were called to lot 119 at Pioneer Trailer Court at 1411 6th Street around 11:19 a.m.
Upon arriving firefighters learned a child was still inside the residence.
Firefighters entered both ends of the trailer house and encountered high heat and heavy smoke. They recovered the body of a two-year-old boy, who’s name has not been released pending the notification of relatives.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Firefighters were on the scene about three hours.
The Milford Fire Department was assisted by the Milford and Arnolds Park Police Departments, Milford Municipal Utilities and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office.
