(Spencer)– An Everly man wanted in connection with a domestic assault in Clay county was arrested over the weekend.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was conducting a traffic stop Friday in Everly when he was approached by a female stating she had been assaulted by her boyfriend earlier in the evening. Deputies learned the suspect was 53-year-old Mark Shorey.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was asked to check a residence in Lake Park to see if Shorey was there. Dickinson county deputies located Shorey at a residence in Lake Park shortly before 1:00 a.m. Saturday. Shorey was taken into custody and was transported to Clay county where he was booked into jail on a charge of domestic abuse simple assault.
Shorey was being held without bond pending an appearance before a magistrate.
We had earlier reported Mark Shorey was from Lake Park. That is NOT correct. He happened to be visiting a residence there when he was taken into custody.
