(Spencer)– The month of May has been proclaimed Preservation Month. The theme for this year’s observance is “Celebrating America’s Treasures”.
In conjunction with the observance the Spencer Historic Preservation Commission is planning some special events, including a walking tour of some North Grand Avenue houses scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28th.
The tours will include a guided tour of the exterior of a home at 1003 N. Grand Avenue.
The tour will then go to 1215 North Grand Ave., The Higgins Mansion. The tour will highlight the exterior of the house, the landscape and the play house.
The next stop will be 1414 N. Grand Ave. for a tour and discussion of the exterior; followed by an exterior and interior tour at 1420 N. Grand Ave., or “The House of Tomorrow”.
The final stop on the tour will at 1620 N. Grand Ave., an example of a cottage bungalow.
