Pure Fishing Unveils Next Generation Of Fishing Line

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– One of the lakes area’s largest employers Wednesday announced a major new product line.

Officials with Pure Fishing announced a new innovative fishing line they say will become the next generation of fishing line, called Nanofil.

Clay Norris, Senior Product Manager of Fishing Line at Pure Fishing, tells KUOO news they worked with Dutch chemical company DSM, which formulated one of the toughest fibers known to man, called Dyneema.

Norris says the line has a tremendous amount of strength, yet it has an extremely small diameter. He says the product represents years of research and development, but now it’s about to hit the market. And Norris says based on feedback from test marketing, the potential for Nanofil is going to be huge.

Among other qualities, Nanofil is extremely smooth and casts nearly twice the distance as traditional nylon line. It’s also highly sensitive.

Norris adds the new line further solidifies Pure Fishing’s presence in Spirit Lake for the longhaul.

Representatives of various national fishing publications and syndicated fishing programs were in Spirit Lake Wednesday for the announcement and official unveiling of the new line, which begins shipping nationwide June 13th. Leading up to that, Norris says the Spirit Lake plant is working three shifts a day to ramp up production of the new line.
