(Spencer)– Spencer Municipal Utilities is out with its latest Consumer Confidence Report on water quality.
SMU Sales and Marketing Coordinator Amanda Gloyd says the report provides details of drinking water testing conducting during the 2010 calendar year.
Gloyd says the utility tests for over 80 different drinking water contaminants, and the 2010 reports shows no violations of EPA rules for water quality. She says that’s because SMU’s wells are based in an aquifer that is a fairly clean source. As a result Gloyd says they don’t have to do as much treatment on the water compared to other cities that rely on other sources.
In addition to showing the result of water testing from last year, the Consumer Confidence Report also gives customers details on SMU’s water source, treatment methods and other important health information.
A copy of the report will be sent with bills for the month of June. Copies are also available at the SMU Customer Service Center at 712 Grand Avenue in Spencer or on line at www.smunet.net.
