Local Law Enforcement To Participate In Special Enforcement Project

(Spirit Lake)– Expect to see an increased presence of law enforcement on the road over the upcoming 4th of July holiday period.

A number of local law enforcement agencies, including the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and most are police departments, will be out in force beginning this Friday and continuing through one week from today…Monday, the 4th of July.

Authorities will be emphasizing the importance of buckling up, driving the speed limit and obeying all traffic laws.

During a similar enforcement effort conducted over the Fourth of July period last year, 214 agencies across the state had contact with 353 alcohol or drug impaired drivers along with 1,008 seatbelt violators and 4,592 speed violators. In all, authorities say more than 11,228 violations were recorded. In addition, officers assisted 965 motorists, investigated 366 crashes and apprehended 107 people wanted on warrants.
