(Milford)– Officials with Klaussner Home Furnishings, which owns the Stylecraft plant in Milford, announced today (Tues.) they’ll be closing the Milford plant effective August 20th.
105 employees work at that plant, which at its height in the early 1990’s employed more than 800.
In a news release, Klaussner President and CEO Bill Wittenberg says they’ll be moving all manufacturing operations to plants the company owns in North Carolina. Wittenberg says the move will allow them to centralize operations in order to serve customers in a timely manner.
Klaussner operates nine manufacturing facilities in North Carolina including a foam fabrication plant, a 200,000 square foot warehouse for casegoods and Enso mattresses, along with a frame shop.
George Wiggen, Human Resources Director at the Milford plant, tells KUOO news they’ll be working closely with employees that will be dislocated in finding new employment opportunities.
The Stylecraft plant in Milford opened in 1972 in a former grocery store. It quickly expanded soon after that.
