(Wahpeton)– A motorcyclist was injured this (Thurs.) after taking evasive action to avoid colliding with a vehicle.
The incident took place shortly after 9:30 this (Thurs.) morning in the 1500 block of Highway 86.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the vehicle, Elliott Wooldridge, was pulling out of a driveway to go southbound on Highway 86 and didn’t see the northbound motorcycle driven by Patrick Mccartan. Mccartan swerved in an attempt to avoid colliding with the vehicle, causing him to fall off the motorcycle. Mccartan was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare with non-incapacitating injuries. Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet.
No injuries were reported to Wooldridge, who was cited for failure to yield upon entering a highway.
Deputies were assisted on the scene by the Spirit Lake First Responders and the Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and paramedics.
The incident took place shortly after 9:30 a.m.
A news release issued by the Sheriff’s Office doesn’t say where either Wooldridge or Mccartan are from.
