Car/Motorcycle Collision Sends One Person To Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Ruthven)– A car/motorcycle collision Wednesday west of Ruthven sent one person to the hospital.

Authorities say Robert Uhing of Norfolk, Nebraska was driving a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle pulling a trailer eastbound on a county road and was attempting to pass a vehicle when he collided with a 1995 Lincoln driven by Lavonne Mason of Ruthven. Authorities say Mason was also eastbound and was attempting to make a left-turn when the collision took place.

The motorcycle Uhing was operating went into the north ditch before coming to rest; the vehicle driven by Mason came to rest on the north shoulder.

Uhing was taken by ambulance to the Palo Alto County Hospital. There was no word as to the nature of his injuries or condition.

Mason and a passenger in her vehicle refused immediate treatment.

Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $4,300 while the Lincoln sustained an estimated $3,800 in damage.

Uhing was cited for passing too close to an intersection.

The collision took place shortly before 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of two county roads on the Clay/Palo Alto county line.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ruthven Fire Department and ambulance and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
