Spirit Lake Collision Sends One Person To Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision Wednesday at the intersection of Sunner Avenue and 175th Street, or Stakeout Road, sent one person to the hospital.

Spirit Lake police say 17-year-old Jason Fett of Guthrie Center was southbound on Sunner Avenue and had stopped at a stop sign when he pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by 54-year-old Cynthia Hawn of Spirit Lake who was westbound on Stakeout Road.

The impact of the collision caused the vehicle Hawn was driving to go into the ditch on the north side of Stakeout Road.

Hawn was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare where she was treated for minor injuries; Fett declined immediate treatment.

Fett was cited for failure to yield.

$1,000 in damage was estimated to a 2000 Chevrolet driven by Fett; a 1991 Lexus driven by Hawn sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage.

The collision took place shortly before 2:00 p.m.
